Daniel Jideofor Oneyeke

Daniel Jideofor Oneyeke’s recent artworks aim to demonstrate the impact of western religion on the Igbo art. By using paintings as a medium of expression and creating visual striking semi abstract images, he aims to challenge the viewer to critical thinking to evaluate the impact of these two distinctive cultures on each other and the intersection between these two separate bodies, art, and religion. His painting seeks to awaken the consciousness of the viewer and also question the impact of Christianity on Igbo art and the outcome of integrating Western religion into the art of Igbo society. His art also aims to engage the viewers to evaluate their perceptions of the relationship between religion, art, and people’s way of life.
